Why attend the Latin America and the Caribbean Climate Summit?

The Summit aims to hold a discussion on the most relevant issues in the evolution of carbon markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This is an event organized by the Colombian Association of Carbon market players - ASOCARBONO and the International Emission Trading Association - IETA, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development - USAID, and the Ministry of the Environment. and Sustainable Development of Colombia and will take place on October 6, 7 and 8 at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center.


There are several countries that will meet to talk about carbon markets, among them are: Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Chile, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, WAACMCF (an alliance that groups together 16 countries in West Africa), South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and the United States.


The Latin America and Caribbean Climate Summit seeks to carry out a discussion on the most relevant topics about the evolution of carbon markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, carbon taxes, tradable emission quotas, bilateral market mechanisms and expectations about its development.


In addition, this event will evaluate the impact of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which are the core of the Paris Agreement, and nature-based solutions, in a way that focuses on assertive regional visions. with a view to developing the negotiations to be held at COP 26 in Glasgow, which will take place in November.


It is important to highlight that the Climate Summit 2021 will have all the biosecurity measures, likewise, those who attend must present and carry their vaccination certificate with the complete COVID19 scheme.
