BIOFIX and CODECHOCÓ sign an agreement to promote REDD + projects

The entities have made an institutional collaboration pact to accompany projects for the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (REDD +), which are currently being developed with the support of community councils from the department of Chocó.

BIOFIX CONSULTORÍA and the Chocó Regional Autonomous Corporation - CODECHOCÓ signed a collaboration agreement to accompany and promote REDD + projects, which will allow the use of the technical capacity of environmental authorities, in order to generate positive impacts on the communities of the zone.

With this agreement, progress will be made in actions related to the social development of the department, the creation and strengthening of green businesses, and the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity.

After its signing, the work that BIOFIX has been developing in the region is consolidated, allied with 5 community councils, through activities of conservation and sustainable use of forests to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. In addition, the company strengthens its objective of establishing alliances to accompany ethnic communities in the design and implementation of sustainable productive projects that can be generated with the emission and commercialization of carbon credits.

This agreement also materializes the functions of the Regional Autonomous Corporations, specifically those mentioned in paragraph 6 of article 31 of Law 99 of 1993, and those special to CODECHOCÓ indicated in article 39 of the same regulation.

The Chocó Regional Autonomous Corporation will be a relevant actor in the activities to control deforestation and participatory reforestation, where indicators related to the identification of causes, actors and total deforested and degraded areas will be raised. A public oversight will also be established on the implementation of the projects, which will allow for transparency in the execution of the resources generated.
